regarding the forum:
1. Do I have to pay a membership
fee?
It is absolutely free. The forum
is provided to encourage and promote breastfeeding. It is managed
by a group of breastfeeding mothers from all parts of Malaysia on
a voluntary basis.
2. Is this a public forum?
This forum is closely moderated
(monitored) by a group of dedicated women who believe that breastmilk
is best for baby.
3. Who are behind this forum?
The website and forum is managed
by Lilian of Penang. She is a full-time mother to 5 sons, writes for
parenting magazines and newspapers when she has time and involves
in community works. She is supported by Sheela (an extended nursing
mother) and Maria (breastfeeding twins) who are the administrators
and several dedicated breastfeeding mothers who moderate the forum.
The names of the moderators of MyMomsBest forum can be seen from the
forum board.
3. Why can't I see a profile
of all the members?
This is a security measure to
protect the privacy of the members. However, members have the option
of including a short description of themselves in their signature
block which will appear at each posting.
4. What do I need to know before
posting?
New members are encouraged to
read through the forum board first and understand the few rules stated
there. We do not allow members to solicit for business, share the
links of other websites (as they may not be reliable), repeat a question
that had been asked recently and a few other matters. Advertisement
space is available if one is interested in selling their products/services.
5. I am not very good in English
but would like to join the forum. Can I use Bahasa Malaysia or Mandarin?
All Malaysian and Singaporean
parents are welcome to surf the website and forum board. The forum
board does not support Mandarin (fonts) but members can use our helpline
to ask a question related to breastfeeding. Most of our members are
proficient in Bahasa Malaysia so postings in BM is most welcome.
6. Why can't I see the breastfeeding
questions?
The breastfeeding forum is only
accessible after the new member has made an introduction on the forum
or write to the administrators. This is to protect the privacy of
the members.
7. I lost my password. Where
do I get them?
The administrators of the forum
board DO NOT have the members passwords. One has to write to the forum
board provider (phBB). You can find the link on the top right hand
corner of the forum board.
8. I want to change my user name.
Sorry, the administrators do
not have the ability to do that too. Sign up with another name.
9. Why do I get rejected after
registering?
As mentioned in item 2, this
forum is for parents. Therefore, if you sign up with a user ID that
the administrators do not feel comfortable with, they have the right
to reject the membership. Or probably you have put a link to a site
they do not approve. (Only links to photopages are allowed unless
you are one of our advertisers/supporters.)
10. I am not a breastfeeding
mother. Can I join too?
Of course, all parents who share
the belief that breastmilk is best are welcome. Everyone can do their
part in encouraging breastfeeding. The information/awareness you gained
can be shared with your friends/relatives/colleagues to encourage
them to breastfeed.
11. Are there any taboo subject
which I should know of which I cannot post?
There is no right or wrong question.
We had discussed religions (related to children upbringing) and other
sensitive issues in a very harmonious manner. However, ideally all
members are reminded that a breastfeeding and informed parenting website
like MyMomsBest expects :
