PUBLIC
AWARENESS
MyMomsBest
as a group hopes to create public awareness on several issues. Currently,
we have group discussions related to a few topics. In time, we hope to be
made aware of more things that will hopefully made us, parents, to be knowledgable,
caring and aware.
Briefly,
here are some things that we had discussed:
 |
1.
Life-saving skills for parents
The
co-owner of this site, Lilian has deep passion for this issue because
she had resuscitated her own baby, Vincent
before. Therefore, she has worked closely with Dr Cheang Hon Kit, Consultant
Paediatrician who is a certified neonatal resuscitation programme instructor/certified
paediatric advanced life support instructor and wrote a few articles
in the paper on this matter. Dr Cheang conducts this course Penang annually
as a community project |
Meanwhile,
a group of proactive parents from MyMomsBest had participated in a CPR for
children course organised by a member of MyMomsBest, GC Ng and conducted by
the St. John Ambulance
2. Blood
donation
3. Organs
donation
Life
through death - Lilian's thoughts on this matter in a letter published
in Speaking Up column, The Star)
One of our member, a doctor, has given the members a very encouraging and
informative explanation on what is involved in organs donation. Through, Dr.
Mei Shi's enthusiastic and lively description on all the 'behind the scenes'
machinery involves when a patient's next-of-kin approved the donation of their
beloved's organs, the members are highly motivated. We understand that an
organ donation's pledge is not good enough. We need to educate our loved ones,
neighbours, friends, colleagues and people around us about the important role
the next-of-kin. The next-of-kin is the one that decides and thus, we have
to make it very clear to our loved ones what we wish to do with our organs.
More information
about Organs Donation can be found on this
website by the Malaysian Medical
Resources.
More issues will be discussed and MyMomsBest will share with surfers things
close to our hearts, as parents.
