What pregnant moms ought NOT to eat

Aug 14th, 2005 by Lilian

There are many things to avoid eating. And most of them are those that your mothers told you to eat. Those that they forbid you to eat, may be much more harmless than the NOT-TO list.

One of them is bird’s nests. Do not over indulge with the hope that you produce beautiful babies. As explained by an Immunologist (specialist in allergies problems), if you take too much during pregnancy, your child may be born with an allergy to egg protein. He told us that one child who is allergic to eggs almost died because his grandma fed him bird’s nest.

The Malaysian Medical Resources had written a very informative post about avoiding “natural” supplements in pregnancy. Please surf over and be informed on the hidden dangers, including the very basic daun pegaga.

Pregnant moms – always listen to your doctors.

Yes, sadly for me, it’s true. My milk supply dipped drastically when Gordon was 13 months old and my, was he cranky. I bought some fenugreek capsules to boost my supply and steeped tea with the seeds and drank them. Little did i know i was pregnant then.

How would i have known, still breastfeeding mah. And i kena the very 1st time we did it sans condom. Though it’s supposed to boost milk supply, it’s also a uterine stimulant in high doses.

Thus, resulted in my miscarriage at 7th weeks.

Oh Samm, I am so sorry to hear about that. I hope it is not just the fenugreek that is the cause. Scary, ya. I ought to warn the moms in MMB. Thanks for the info.

I also read that ginseng cannot be taken during pregnancy. The root is a good energy booster, but it also has toxic that can harm the fetus. I can’t remember the link, but if you find in BBC should be able to get it.
