Wealth doesn’t equal health

As parents, we often want to offer the best and most expensive things we can afford for our children. This includes the most expensive formula milk we can get our hands on or the latest organic baby foods available on the shelves.
However, the latest findings revealed by the British Medical Journal indicate that wealthier families do not necessary raise healthier children.
One of the most basic of all is breastfeeding. It doesn’t cost any money and yet, it is the best there is available for babies. No amount of money can buy an equivalent quality of milk for a baby. No amount of research can make cow/goat/soy milk on par with human milk.
I hope parents will ponder on this news which I picked up from Reuters. It is released by the British Medical Journal.
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - The findings from a study of insulin resistance in Europe suggest that high earnings and an advanced educational level do not always translate into good health.
In Denmark, children of the most educated and highest earning parents showed the least insulin resistance. By contrast, in Estonia and Portugal, just the opposite was seen.
To parents who are not aware, breastfed babies have been proven to be much healthier than their cow’s milk-fed counterparts. I shall get the relevant facts and share them next time. Therefore, if you want healthier babies, think of human milk and not animal or plants alternatives.
