Warning on Christmas and other chasing lights

This piece of news reminded me of something to alert parents of toddlers and crawling babies. These children are naturally drawn to those flickering lights that most homes like to hand during festive seasons.
However, do you notice how fragile these lights are? Most of them cost just a few dollars and I doubt they have any safety features. The lights normally come with two pins plugs and can be easily detached from the plug point.
So parents, do pay extra attention when you take your kids out during this Christmas seasons. Almost every shopping malls have these lights installed haphazardly so make sure they don’t pull or touch them.

This is the news of the product recall in UK:
Thousands of Christmas trees are being recalled by supermarket group Asda because of a possibly lethal electrical problem with their lights.
Asda said it was asking customers to return more than 10,000 of the pre-lit plastic trees sold across the country.
It has also withdrawn a further 50,000 from its shelves and warehouses.
A spokesman said four customers had returned the plastic trees, which come in three colours and are priced between £15 and £27.
People also complained that some of the lightbulbs were damaged.
The spokesman added that bulbs were already smashed on the trees, exposing an element which would cause a “nasty” electric shock if touched once the tree was plugged in.
Remember that our country has almost nil safety precautions. So we need to take extra care of our children. Oh ya, the lights are easily pulled off and my toddler had done it before. See that small children didn’t put these glass bulbs into their mouth too.
*sigh* The stress of holidays.
