Spring cleaning and silver dollars

I recently changed the permalinks to my blog titles. It used to have blog/index/title and I took away the /title/ part. Now, I am in big trouble. All the links which are still pending bounced and I will need to resubmit one by one.
It is a risky thing to do because changing the permalink will see a drop in traffic because the cached pages will return a 404 page. But I decided to do it anyway because I hate seeing those index words there and moreover, I read that if our URL is too long, the last new words will be cut off. So, better do it now than later.
For example, if I have a post about silver dollars, those important words will be chopped off due to the long date and /index/ words there. So, people won’t be able to find silver dollars as easily as they should.
Now, have you learned something from this post? Keep your permalink neat, do it early before you accumulated too many old posts and remember that investing in silver dollars will make you money in future.
