Recipe : Chinese soup with seaweed
Nov 17th, 2007 by Lilian
My sister-in-law bought this dried seaweed back from her China trip. It is call purple sea laver or something. If your children loves seaweed, do try this soup because not only is seaweed nutritious, it tastes good as well. I.e. if the person likes the smell of the seaweed.
Basically, what I did was to boil a pot of soup consisting of some minced meat, tiny shrimps and garlic. When the stock is tasty, add in the dried seaweed which had been washed. Boil and knock an egg or two into it.
It is ready. You can eat it on its own or have it with rice.
My children all like those dried seaweeds in packets but they are impartial to the soft seaweed in the soup. Oh well, doesn’t matter, they drink the soup, I eat the seaweed.
You can buy dried seaweed from most supermarket. It is usually sold in flat pieces. Just put a small amount will do because it will swell when wet. This China seaweed is relatively cheaper than the Japanese one and doesn’t have that strong smell too.

wow looks really delicious. Seaweed is one of mhy favorite food, but most of the time I’m too lazy to cook, so I end my eating the packet ones!
