Pool hygiene

I hate the idea of bringing my little baby to the pool. It doesn’t matter if it is a private club, five-star hotel or world class olympic size pool because it is still public as public can get. However, the joy of taking older kids to swim is immeasurable so sometimes, I bring the baby along to join in the fun. However, it is usually limited to only half the body getting in contact with the pool water and not a total immersion as most baby will accidentally swallow water if water gets near their mouth.
Most moms have reported that they have seen baby’s poo floating in pools! Ewwwss…it is disgusting but most probably accidental.
If you are still interested to bring your babies for swimming, do read the below pool hygiene guide. However, you may practice it but what about other parents?
Pool Hygiene
The CDC provides these tips for preventing recreational water illnesses:
* Don’t swim when you have diarrhea. Don’t get back in the water until two weeks after the diarrhea has ended.
* Don’t swallow pool water. Avoid even getting the water in your mouth.
* Take a shower before swimming.
* Wash your hands after using the toilet or changing diapers.
* Take your kids on bathroom breaks or check diapers often.
* Change diapers in a bathroom or diaper-changing area, not by the pool.
* Wash your child thoroughly (especially their rear end) with soap and water before swimming, even if they look clean.
