Parents, why you should beware of human growth hormone
Apr 1st, 2008 by Lilian
Long ago, one of my son was several years behind his peers in terms of his physical development. He is a lot shorter and smaller in size. My paediatrician took an x-ray of his bones when my son was there for a sprain ankle. He found that my son was about 3 years behind in his development.
So, we had a long chat and he told me to be patient as he will grow and catch up with his peers. True enough, he is now no longer shorter than the rest. During our chat, my paed told me about human growth hormone and how he had to administer to some children who are really behind in their physical development. He told me the source of it, the side effects and etc. Of course, he wasn’t advocating human growth hormone but he said there are instances when they have to do so.
Nowadays, the current trend is to use human growth hormone as an anti-ageing and even in sports. Do not get into it unless you know what are the side effects. I have made a post about the side effects of human growth hormone in my other blog. Do read and understand the risk.
