I guess many young families are not ready to face a recession. If times are bad, some may even lose their job without compensation. That’s why my hubby was a bit glad that he had taken his VSS and is safe from a potential closing down of his company. Back in the 80s, he lost his job when his company collapsed from the last recession. Not only he did not get a compensation, he always had to work without salary as at that time, he was in accounts and they were the last employees to be terminated.

Nowadays, I see there are so many tempting offers out there to get us to spend. I wonder what will happen when people lose their jobs? So, when you see those attractive balance transfers which you give lots of freebies and such, think twice first. Do not get yourself into debt that you cannot settle because if things go bad, you will be in deep trouble.

My little boy and I have been drooling over lovely cupcakes found one cupcake sites. Some of these sites are complete with instructions, recipes and the step by step method of baking nice, cute little cupcakes.

I tried making icing for the sponge cake my eldest baked the other day and I failed miserably. The icing made from whipping cream melted the moment it touches the cake surface. Doh….

So, I dare not attempt making cupcakes until I can find some firm, will not melt icing.

Christmas wish

I doubt I will ever get the wish I wish. I don’t know how many Christmas more will I have to wait. I wish to get a bigger home. Some old heritage building with a courtyard in the middle of my home. We have a lot of these huge old houses but it will cost a bomb to renovate it. Just the plumbing and wiring will burn a big hole in our pocket.

So, it looks like I won’t be able to have that big bungalow with a courtyard, a fountain, plenty of rooms and thick, granite walls. I can just keep dreaming of living in a complete home with library, home theater, one room each for each child, a cosy private room for myself and a huge kitchen. I think the only thing I can afford are home theater sconces, minus the home theater and bungalow.

Happiness is made of air

We were at Swensen’s icecream the other day and they have all these smiley faces balloons.

My little boy was so excited with the various colours balloons and had so much fun playing with them. We were seated next to the bunch of balloons to be given away to the patrons. So my boy got his hands on the balloons.

When we wanted to go home, I thought he would take one from the balloon stand. But clever boy said, “Never mind, leave the balloons for other children to play with. I played already.”

Sigh..such an adorable and thoughtful boy.

I saw a traditional biscuit shop here who is selling their franchise. It is great that even a traditional biscuit shop knows that franchise is the way to go. With it, the business grows and at the same time, spread the brand name far and wide.

I heard that one needs a lot of money to get into a franchise business. There was this one time when my hubby enquired about one franchise business and we were told that it costs in the region of hundreds of thousands. Doh..if we have that amount of money, we may as well start some other things.

So, I wonder if there are much cheaper franchise businesses?
