Medicines and breastfeeding
Jul 14th, 2005 by Lilian
A lot of breastfeeding mothers are unsure whether it is safe for them to take certain medicines when they are breastfeeding. I found this very useful information from Pharmacy.Gov.my website.
A few lines from the site caught my attention especially the one I had marked in bold :
1) Choose a form of medication that reduces the amount of drug that can reach your baby. Examples are throat lozenges and gargles instead of cough syrups, nose drops instead of decongestants tablets.
2) Check with your pharmacist or doctor before using any medications.
3) Be cautious with herbal teas, herbal medicines or ‘natural’ food supplements. Many of these products contain drugs and the source may not be known. Check with your pharmacist before use.
Hope this clears many of the questions that we often heard from breastfeeding mothers.
hmmm yummy … i sapot breastfeeding 100%!!
