L’enfant terrible or enfant terrible moments
Feb 28th, 2008 by Lilian
Enfant terrible is best describe of the embarrassing things our kids blurted out. But it also means, as what Wikipedia explains :
L’enfant terrible (Terrible child) (also spelled enfant terrible) is a French term for a child who is terrifyingly candid by saying embarrassing things to adults, especially parents. The Webster’s Dictionary also defines a L’Enfant terrible as a usually successful person who is strikingly unorthodox, innovative, or avant-garde.
They used it to describe William F. Buckley, RIP as one of them.
But I am sure many of us parents can identify with the first description. How many times have we waited in queues and our kid suddenly asked or made a comment that caught everyone within hearing distance by surprise?
I just got it. I was waiting to pay for a box of Lego and my son suddenly sang out loud, Paklalalala, Pakalalala alwizzzzz seeeeeping…. (always sleeping).
