Homeschooling would have been my choice
Dec 12th, 2009 by Lilian
It is the end of the school year and my little boy has just finished his kindergarten. He graduated from K2 with a big concert and lots of prizes. On one hand, I am so proud of his achievements because he is indeed a lot advanced than most of his peers.
However, I am also worried how he is going to find public school next year. He may get bored with the kind of things the have to study at Year One. He already can read a whole book now and certainly will find learning ABCs a bore.
If I am given a choice, I would prefer homeschooling because my child will then have the freedom of learning at a pace he is most comfortable with. Otherwise, he will have to wait for his peers to catch up and by then, he will tired of schooling.
If you are a mother who is looking for homeschooling and wish to check out the curriculum take a look at the site available online. It is now much more convenient for us to see the
curriculum online and decide if we want to place our children in homeschooling.
A few of my friends whose children are in homeschooling are certainly much more advanced in their studies compared to the public school. However, the only thing we need to ensure is our children have enough playtime and also have a group of friends to interact with so that they are able to communicate well.
Understand how you feel — mainstream schools may be unsuitable for high achievers.
Homeschooling would allow the child to move at his own pace and explore areas of interest deeply.
Hope you’d find a solution for your child soon.
Shall be following your blog updates to get ideas.
Have a great year ahead!
