Free gifts? Think again.
Jul 29th, 2005 by Lilian
I am greatly disturbed with the lastest news from BBC titled as follows:
Thai babies get government gifts
Free gifts? Think again. So much money poured into newborns? Why?
Who sponsored this? Well, there was no mention whether this is from some big, generous corporations or who.
Think. If the government is going to spend $7.5 (USD) million, do you think they will put them to new borns in the form of blankets?
I know my breastfeeding group of mothers are aware of the dirty tactics of formula milks companies which I had blogged before.
They are aware of the repercussions that will result in millions of babies dying if there is no NGOs to keep these ‘free gifts’ practice in line.
I can go on further but I shall not speculate. I leave this matter to the NGOs to pursue. I am only but an individual who has a passion in promoting breastfeeding. My concerns have been forwarded to the appropriate NGOs.
I thought Thai government is encouraging bfg?! (I was told by my Thai colleagues) Hmm… wonder what goes into the goodie bag. Can imagine lah! Milk powder, milk bottle, baby lotion, baby powder…
