Children dentist

I was at the dentist the other day and there was this boy of six years old who needed several fillings for his cavities. Children dentist is hard to come by and not every dentist is trained to be a children dentist. However, my dentist is this friendly, chatty woman who has her ways with children.
I overheard the dentist asked the little boy if he wants an injection to avoid pain during drilling but the little boy said he doesn’t need it. Oh wow, is he special or what? Then, the dentist started drilling and I could hear him whimpering a few times. The boy’s mom and the dentist again asked the boy if he wants injection and he proudly and bravely said he didn’t want it.
I am not sure if the word injection scared him enough to withstand the pain or what. Personally, I have never taken my children to see a dentist. I have dentist phobia so I normally leave the task to my hubby. He is one cool cat and is better at consoling my child. Otherwise, I will rub off my frayed nerves on my son and that is not helping at all.
So, do you see a pediatric dentist or do you just go to any dentist for your child’s dental check-up? Do you know any good children dentist around?
