A funny Chinese bride tradition

The other day, I attended a Chinese wedding. When the bridegroom went to fetch the bride, she came with a box of gold jewelleries and was searching for the mother-in-law to show her. The mother-in-law went, “HUH? What’s that?”
LOL, all of us have never seen this tradition. It turned out that the bride is bringing what you can refer as all her heirlooms to show to the mother-in-law that she comes from a family who could afford her gold and silver. Of course, it is just a tradition now. However, in the olden days in China, probably they have to do it to let the groom’s family know that she is rich and not to be bullied.
Anyway, it is good to buy gold and keep them as these precious metals’ prices keep going up and ver come down. Buy a few bars and keep now so that if you have daughter who are getting married, ask her to bring the certificates from Monex to show how much she has in the deposit. Good idea, right?
